Alright so, this is something we discussed doing around the beginning of club but haven't quite gotten around to it yet.
This even is inspired by the points of interest post aesucm.freeforums.net/thread/19/points-interest
There's great places to go besides downtown Warrensburg, but for convenience I thought it would be cool to just explore downtown together on one day, and perhaps take on other places a different day.
The Art Store - This place is actually going out of business, sadly. It might even be gone by now, I'm not entirely sure. But if we catch it while it's still around, there's a hell of a going out of business sale going on right now. Correct me if I'm wrong on that though, it's been a while so there's a good chance it's just gone now (or at least all the supplies is)
Thompson Productions - This is the Comic Store! It's pretty nice and periodically does gaming events and whatnot. However, I was once scolded by an employee for looking at a comic for too long (which wasn't very long at all, I was just standing there checking out the artwork), and that didn't quite sit right with me. REGARDLESS, they have a decent selection and do student discounts.
Rock 'N Sports Ah, Rock 'N Sports. This has been one of my favorite stores for a long time (I'm a townie) You can get a lot of things incredibly cheap. I especially like the music collection. They also have plenty of videogames, movies, posters, books, and other miscellaneous things. I think the amount of retro games is pretty great.
Cafe Blackadder This is probably my favorite place to eat in Warrensburg. The atmosphere has this, I guess, quaint yet artsy vibe. They have a fantastic selection of quality tea. The food itself is a seasonal thing, and I've found myself enjoying foods I don't like from anywhere but there.
Those Were The Days "Three stories of treasures await you at one of the largest antique malls in Missouri with more than 55,000 square feet of space and 250 dealers." This place is so vast. It's crazy. It's a great place to check out if you're looking for cosplay odds and ends.
And there's a couple other thrift shops we could check out that I can't quite remember the names of. But I think a day of all these places would be a pretty productive day spent.
While we're at it, we could ask to put up AES flyers at at least Rock 'N Sports and Thompson Productions, mayyybe Cafe Blackadder.
We'd probably be going around 10:00am-3:00pm on Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday, or Friday.
Let me know if you like the idea!
