Note to moderators: If this thread is in the wrong forum, and should be in UCM-Related Activities or someplace, feel free to move it or delete and repost it, whatever's necessary. So, I had an idea for how to do a craft night that would also help with a fundraiser: just have a hands-on tutorial of something simple (like kitty-ear hats - those fleece/plush toques with the animal ears). Here's how it could work: - Anyone who wants to do so can donate fleece and stuff like thread and pattern printouts ahead of time. I figure it'll probably be mostly old folks like myself and some of the officers, but anyone can.
- Everyone who wants to can make a hat (or whatever).
- Everyone who wants to keep their hat can bring in their own fleece (we will need to say at least the week before, and maybe post on the forum, how much will be necessary) or exchange it for a small donation to the club. Everyone else donates the hat(s) that they made. Volunteers can finish any incomplete hats at a date or dates before the next fundraiser.
Any questions, or other suggestions?

This forum is perfectly fine J.R.!
I definitely like this idea, we'll have to think about it and discuss it some more. It certainly seems like an easy enough craft. Do you know how to make them? In fact, we may be trying to sell crafts as early as September 5th at Get The Red Out.

I've made a couple, but I'll need to make some new patterns and maybe do a practice run to make sure I'm refreshed enough to help demonstrate. I've got some other craft ideas, but they're just craft ideas that could possibly be sold at a craft fair, not project ideas (PM me or ask at the club if you want to hear me ramble ;p).

Hmmm I see, well definitely share more ideas if you want to! (Also feel free to ramble on here, that's what it's for after all hhahah)
We requested a booth at Get The Red Out, and I'm not sure if we'll get it or not, but it appears we're allowed to sell things there. So, if you have some crafts of your own you'd like to bring and try to sell, I think you could do that! Although, what you do with the profits of your craft is totally up to you.

Ooh, yay! I'll definitely budget for more quick-to-make, easy-to-sell crafts : ) I doubt I'll have anything by Get The Red Out, but I might (depending on when it is), and if we get a craft fair booth I can almost definitely have stuff by then : )

I keep forgetting to ask when the college craft fair is. It is a mystery. Do you know when it is?
I think I would like us to enter the Mid-Missouri Artists Christmas Arts and Crafts Show which is November 2nd though. It's $35 a booth for members, and I think I'm TECHNICALLY a member but I'm not sure hahah. If not, then it's $50. Not entirely sure if it's a thing we should attempt, but it is a possibility, and we have until October 25 to submit the form.
Get The Red Out is September 5th, and I believe we'll receive word on whether or not we'll get the booth by September 3rd.
